Well, the windfall of Seattle pics is finally over. Here are bits and pieces from wandering around.
Well, this isn’t out and about. It’s actually the smoke alarm in my hotel room.
A dragon in the Chinese room of the Smith Tower.
Elevator motor, Smith Tower:
You can hop a ferry that takes you to islands off the coast of Washington or just to the other side of the sound. Bainbridge is among these places. We had originally intended to catch the ferry and then come back in quick succession to see the sun set and the lights come up in downtown Seattle. Alas, we were too early. The sun was still up yet everything was closed on the island. We decided to leave but had to run to catch the ferry for the trip back. No lights were to be seen. But Bainbridge, what little I saw, was idyllic.
The waterfront:
White, small petal hydragenas on the island.
The city of Seattle requires 1% of the budget of any new public building be spent on art. It’s a wonderful program that leads to all kinds of different mediums and venues.
The Seattle Public Library: this building was received much like Pei’s pyramid at the Louvre. I think it’s growing on people though.
The floor on the first floor is a commissioned art piece. It’s embossed and just incredible.
Boy, this blog is a reflection of how much I’ve been neglecting my hobby. I hven’t taken pictures in awhile. However, I just returned from a week in Seattle. I will be posting pictures from my trip for the next week. I hope you enjoy!
No visit to Seattle would be complete without going to Pike’s Market. Some of the exposures need to be cleaned up but they’re ok as is.
